To me, this is one of the most wonderful days of the year, as it reveals that Jesus really is who He said He was.
Jesus told his disciples that He would be killed and on the third day be raised from the dead. Yet, after His arrest, they all deserted Him. They were most likely losing faith in the One they thought could save Himself. However, when Jesus appeared and spent the following 40 days with them (Acts 1:3), they knew the Truth.
Something to consider: How many of you would be persecuted/martyred for something you knew was an absolute lie? Jesus’ disciples would have known He was a liar if He hadn’t risen from the dead, as He said He would. Yet all of them went to their deaths, many being persecuted and martyred for preaching that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father, except through Him.
Something else to consider: Isn’t it interesting that Jesus was crucified on the exact day, out of 365 days of the year, where the Jews sacrificed a lamb without spot or blemish for deliverance?
John the Baptist said of Jesus when they met, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29) And Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13) And this is just what Jesus did for us.
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
