Fearing the Lord

“My son, if you receive my words,
and treasure my commands within you… Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God… Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
equity and every good path.” (Prov. 2:1,5,9)

In spiritually preparing ourselves, it is crucial that we fear the Lord, which is to hate evil (Prov.8:13). It is sad that much of the church doesn’t speak about fearing God. Most Christians these days believe “Once saved, always saved,” which is a lie from Satan, one reason the church is falling away and lukewarm. How can one fear God if we believe that once we accept Jesus, we can do whatever we want and still have eternal life? Would our God take away our free will? Of course not. We are not puppets.

“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17) We should be in fear of His judgment, which will keep us from evil and on the narrow path, which leads to life. Thank You, Jesus, for Your forgiveness and salvation for those who ask, as without You we can do nothing.
