Signs of the Times – War, Pestilences, & How to Prepare

As Jesus states regarding the signs previous to His return, “But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately. For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom and there will be famines, pestilences (diseases, plagues), and earthquakes in many places. All these are the beginning of sorrows (birth pains).” (Mt.24:7-8; Lk.21:9-11)

“Commotions” – In Hebrew: akatastasia; instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion. These caused by numerous factors, including war, natural disasters, plagues, etc, as Jesus states.

It’s extremely important to note that these all occur BEFORE Christ’s return. We see much war, which will grow worse, as we are also told that “War will continue until the end” (Daniel 9:26), natural disasters, and diseases across the news headlines today. Let us not be terrified, but know that Jesus is trying to prepare us for what is to come. First, we must put our trust in Him who is our anchor through the storms. We must also prepare, as Joseph and Noah did when God told them of the coming storms.

One thing that I have been doing for years is to carry handy wipes in my car and purse to use when I place my hands on gas pumps, grocery carts, etc. and I wash my hands frequently to protect against diseases. It has now become a habit. Thank You, Lord.
