“Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
“Falling away” – In Greek: apostasia; defection from truth.
What truth? Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6) There are many truths, but notice the definite article, “the” which tells us that Jesus is not just any truth, He is the truth. And Jesus is also the Word of God (John 1:14).
“Defection” – desertion/abandonment from allegiance, loyalty, duty, principles, religious beliefs, etc.; apostasy.
You cannot defect unless you were once a part. Forget about the false doctrine, “Once saved, always saved.” It’s untrue. Please, my brethren, we must repent and draw closer to Jesus (Yeshua) and eat His Word like food to our bodies, as not to fall away, but instead “test the spirits… to know the Spirit of God” (1 John 4:1). “The falling away” has been happening for many years. Many Christians are not in God’s Word comparing all they hear to our Solid Rock.
